Should you break Wyll's pact or save his father in Baldur's Gate 3?
Just about every companion you can get in Baldur’s Gate 3 has some heavy baggage attached, and in Wyll’s case, it’s quite literally a demon on his shoulder. In exchange for Warlock abilities, the demon Mizora can get Wyll to do her bidding pretty much whenever she wants, something Wyll doesn’t particularly appreciate.
As you continue through the campaign, Mizora will pop up every now and then and require you to do tasks on Wyll’s behalf, but eventually, she will offer a compromise. The pact between Mizora and Wyll can be broken, freeing Wyll’s soul, but his father will be doomed to death. We’ll tell you whether or not you should break Wyll’s pact.

Breaking Wyll’s pact – BG3
Break the pact and Wyll is freed of Mizora’s influence. As part of the agreement, Wyll can keep his Warlock powers until the Absolute is dealt with – meaning he’ll remain a useful partner for the remainder of the campaign – but once it’s all over he’ll be a regular man once more, but a free one.
However, you will now get no help in finding and saving Wyll’s father, the Grand Duke, effectively sentencing him to death. He’s a major figure on Baldur’s Gate and could be extremely useful later down the line, not to mention Wyll’s personal remorse at letting his father die to save himself.
Saving Wyll’s father – BG3
If you convince Wyll to sign the contract and maintain his pact with Mizora, you will learn where Wyll’s father is being held captive, and Mizora will even aid you when you attempt to break him out. There are no gameplay consequences for this, but from a narrative perspective, Wyll’s soul is now bound to Mizora’s, and he will be forced to serve her in the hells eventually.

It’s actually possible to learn the location of Wyll’s father without Mizora’s help – or you can just go there if you know he’s being kept in the Iron Throne. With this knowledge, you can break Wyll’s pact with Mizora and still save his father.
The catch is that the escape will be much more difficult, as Mizora will be actively hindering you at almost every turn – except a difficult battle if you choose this route.
Should you break the pact or save Wyll’s father? – BG3
If you’re not willing to take on the challenge of having it both ways, then the best option is unfortunately to sacrifice Wyll and save his father. The Grand Duke is a useful figure in the story, and depending on what other quests you take up, you may have to stage a breakout from the Iron Throne for other reasons, so having Mizora’s help is a huge benefit.
On the flip side, there isn’t much gained from breaking the pact, other than the narrative satisfaction of freeing Wyll’s soul – that may be enough for some, but let’s be honest, we’re all a little bit selfish.
